What: The purpose of the group is to explore the various world faiths and deepen our understanding of religion, faith and spirituality. We cover a huge range of areas including looking at the basic tenets of all the world's main faiths including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism, Hinduism and the Orthodox churches among others. We have also looked at the Baha'i faith and Zoroastrianism as well as the whole area of being "spiritual but not religious".
We have also looked at some religious sects including some wacky ones! We have done a comparison of the attitudes in different religions towards marriage, divorce, same sex partnerships and the after life. We have looked at pilgrimages, the church in South Africa, famous people who have converted to another religion and religion art amongst other topics. There is so much to explore! The group aims to provide a forum for thought and discussion.
We have also made various visits including the Mosque in Gillingham, the Sikh temple in Gravesend, Aylesford Priory and Detling Church.
The group is open to everyone, whether they follow a faith or not. We welcome new members. None of us are experts. We are just exploring and learning together.
